Compliance Assistant

Shared Services: Compliance- (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

 

Job Summary: The Compliance Assistant provides professional administrative support to ensure smooth office operations. Conducts general office support duties, such as: answering phones and compliance-related questions, filing, scheduling meetings, following up with internal and external sources as needed, handling administrative functions related to hospital licensing, performing general research and administrative support for department leadership and staff. Schedules audits and trainings, tracks training attendance and audit outcomes and produces meaningful reports related to compliance operations. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum two years of experience in administrative support role in complex business or medical center environment required. Minimum one year of experience in regulatory environment preferred. Minimum one year of experience in Medicare and/or Medi-Cal billing or physician professional billing preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in administrative support skills in the performance of job duties. Able to write and speak with professional quality; working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. Must be able to prepare and sort spreadsheets using Excel, be able to utilize database management programs such as Microsoft Access to produce reports. Must be able to answer telephones. Must be able to respond and move quickly when asked to run certain errands. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) using diplomacy, objectivity, and professionalism. Able to meet deadlines and other pressures, work well with others, must have integrity and tact. Demonstrated flexibility in office support management, ensuring the timely completion of required work in conjunction with constantly moving deadlines and multiple priorities. Able to analyze and interpret data, judge and act on analysis of data, solve problems, work independently with minimal supervision, be able to read and understand complex billing regulations and identify problems and formulate solutions. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: None required. Within one year of hire, one of the following certifications should be obtained: RRA (Registered Records Administrator), ART (Accredited Record Technician), CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based).
