The Compliance Assurance Analyst (Payroll) is responsible for conducting sample-based testing of payroll processes to ensure payroll systems comply with internal policies, regulatory standards, and best practices. You will be involved in identifying control weaknesses, assessing risks and reporting findings to key stakeholders. This role also involves assessing and reviewing business processes, to ensure they align with effective internal controls and operational requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processes, internal controls, and compliance activities, with the ability to work collaboratively and drive process improvements.
About The Role:
Contribute to the Compliance Assurance planning and scoping of workplan. Involved in the development of testing mechanisms to ensure accurate assessments. Review and analyse relevant payroll documentation and data including legislative requirements. Conduct field work in accordance with assigned workplan, including walkthroughs with Stakeholders. Conduct sample-based testing of payroll requirements and evaluate compliance with policies, procedures and employment laws. Identify and investigate potential risks and control gaps per the workplan. Maintain precise and comprehensive working papers that clearly document the testing requirements, findings and evidence. Involved in the preparation of findings and presentation to Stakeholders. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to the development of best practices within the compliance assurance function. Maintain a high level of confidence in findings while maintaining operational efficiency.About You:
3-5+ years’ experience end-to-end payroll with specialty involvement in payroll compliance activities. Proficient in Australian payroll legislation, award interpretation and payroll processed. New Zealand exposure would be also advantageous. Knowledge and application of internal control and framework practices (including design, implementation, and monitoring) to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance. Strong analytical, reporting, and ‘attention to detail’ skills. Proactive problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exposure to driving change and managing stakeholder engagement. Focus on continuous improvement and adapting to changing needs.
