Compliance Engineer 2
Overview We are seeking a full-time Compliance Engineer 2 in any of these locations: Olathe, KS, Cary, NC or Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and developing compliance plans for product designs and providing guidance to product development teams to ensure regulatory compliance and leads regulatory reviews. Essential Functions Certifies systems with multiple technologies (ex. GNSS, ANT+, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC) Applies compliance standards/procedures in the creation/implementation of compliance plans through final product approval for a new products and product redesigns Leads compliance and safety design review meetings Provides regulatory input to product development plans and concept documents Teams with mechanical and electrical engineering to launch best-in-class navigation systems with the latest technologies and processors Demonstrates understanding of energy, electrical shock, and thermal hazards, as they relate to electrical and mechanical design Communicates compliance plan elements, expectations, and deliverables to project team Provides departmental updates on revisions to key standards (CISPR, FCC, e-mark) and wireless protocols such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Researches regulatory approval requirements in new markets Provides circuit design and PCB layout review comments on EMC, SAR & safety design aspects May perform as a compliance leader who guides compliance direction for a given project or product Mentors and/or provides guidance to less experienced Compliance Engineers (Compliance Engineer 1) Utilizes sound problem-solving techniques to provide reliable solutions for a variety of problems and demonstrates a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Experience with ESD, EMC, EMI, or product safety testing with proven ability to review designs and offer suggestions for improvements Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated understanding of compliance and regulatory standards related to certification of consumer electronics products Demonstrates understanding of power sources, thermal hazards, flammability ratings and user manual requirements as they relate to compliance regulations Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) iNARTE certification in EMC and/or Product Safety Previous work or internship experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation products Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
