The Job:  

The product compliance engineer will be responsible for conducting regulatory reviews of ground supported products manufactured and distributed by Stanley Black and Decker with a strong focus on product safety and liability.  The candidate must be detail oriented and be thorough with documents and communication.  Success will be measured through development of conforming products, obtaining regulatory certifications, and time to production.  This position is a growth opportunity where the individual must be willing to accept new responsibilities as needed. You’ll get to:  

Specify, review, and approve (regulatory) compliance requirements, product information, and documentsSupport product development and configuration management teams with Bill of Materials (BOM) analysisSupport suppliers and internal supply chain management teams to meet all applicable safety and regulatory compliance requirementsSupport creation of compliance declarations and review of third-party and internal test reportsReview compliance related content in label designs, operating manuals, and warranty statementsRepresent in norm committees and monitor regulations and standards (ANSI, ISO, IEC, etc.)Support customer requests for compliance documentation and certifications

Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline or similar. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Or Electrical EngineeringMinimum 5 years’ experience in regulatory roleExperience with small engines and outdoor power equipment a plusKnowledge of regulations and industry standards, such as:ANSI/OPEI/ISO/IEC/UL Safety StandardsCPSC 16 CFR 1205REACH, RoHs, Battery directive (2006/66/EC), WEEE (2012/19/EU)Familiarity with design, control, and incorporation of compliance strategiesKnowledge of product design and manufacturing processesBasic mechanical/electrical knowledge to follow test proceduresAnalytical skills to analyze test reports and dataMust have good project and time management skillsFamiliarity with PLM programs, preferably TeamcenterExcellent written and verbal communication skills
