Who we are looking for

The Expanding Market Surveillance team in US Boston/UK London is seeking experienced and technically proficient individual with strong trading expertise to support increasing business demands. The Global Financial Crimes Compliance Market Surveillance team oversees State Street’s Foreign Exchange (FX), Equity, GlobalLink, Global Treasury, and Securities Lending businesses, focusing on communication and transaction reviews, investigations, and market trend analysis. 

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements. We are open to hire in Boston, US (4 days on site per week) or London, UK (2 days on site per week).

What you will be responsible for

As Trade Surveillance Analyst you will

Design and implement advanced market surveillance rules across various business lines, particularly FX SWAP transactions 

Analyze market trends and patterns across FX, equity, and fixed-income transactions to identify potential risks and anomalies 

Review and investigate alerts generated by monitoring systems to determine their validity and take appropriate actions 

Collaborate and conduct thorough investigations in collaboration with other team members and departments to gather information 

Optimize market surveillance alert parameters, leveraging extensive trading knowledge 

Prepare and present reports on surveillance findings and recommendations to stakeholders or regulators 

Work closely with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all regulatory requirements are met 

Monitor and analyze trade data for accuracy and completeness 

Maintain accurate and detailed records of surveillance activities and findings 

Proactively identify potential areas of improvement and suggest solutions to enhance surveillance procedures 

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all data privacy and security protocols 

Communicate effectively with team members and management to provide updates on surveillance activities and escalate any issues or concerns 

Act as a subject matter expert on trade surveillance and assist with any ad-hoc projects or tasks as needed

What we value

In-depth knowledge of FX Trading Strategies, Trade Surveillance and regulatory compliance, particularly FX Markets and Swap products 

Strong analytical skills to identify trading patterns, detect market abuse, and conduct complex investigations with the ability to liaise effectively with trading desks and senior stakeholders

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, or related discipline 

3-5 years of experience in Trading, Securities Lending, or Compliance, with a deep understanding of FX products and trading cycles 

CFA or FRM is a plus

Proficient in any foreign languages is not mandatory but a plus 

Additional requirements

Proficient in analyzing large datasets to detect anomalies and generate actionable insights 

Expertise in trading system analytics and market surveillance tools 

Knowledge of SQL or Actimize Surveil-X a plus

Salary Range:

$80 000 - $132 500 Annual
