The Division administers all property tax laws set forth in O.C.G.A. and Georgia Rules & Regulations to county tax officials. Georgia's 159 counties each maintain tax offices responsible for property tax assessment and collection. The Compliance Specialist plays a vital role in the development of comprehensive property tax training programs, property appraisals, and examination of county records for compliance adherence. Duties may include but are not limited to: · Monitoring changes in laws, regulations, and court cases that impact the legal foundation of property taxation in Georgia and update training accordingly. · Providing ongoing training, support, and guidance to tax officials; performing investigations as directed by the Governor, State Revenue Commissioner, or as requested by county governing authorities. · Visiting county digest offices to examine for compliance; evaluating assessment records, practices, and techniques; preparing reports and making recommendations based on findings. Required Qualifications: · High school diploma/GED and two years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include Appraiser certification level II or greater and/or two years of experience with property tax digest preparation & submissions, appraisals/assessments. *DoR temporary associates must have completed at least 6 consecutive months on the current assignment to be considered. Salary: $59,000 Location: This position functions as a mobile worker but is assigned to the Department of Revenue South Metro Facilities at 4125 welcome All Rd, Atlanta GA, 30349. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required, as this position travels 80% of the time.
