JOB SUMMARY:

 

POET is seeking a highly detail-oriented Compliance and Tax Supervisor with a passion for people! The Compliance and Tax Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing activities related to fuel tax reporting and compliance, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as ensuring the safety of our transportation workforce. This role requires an individual who has an appreciation for deadlines and accuracy. The ideal candidate will lead with a hands-on approach, deeply engaged in daily activities and ready to roll up their sleeves and assist team members.

 

This is an on-site role located in Wichita, KS.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively execute departmental strategies and company objectives through leadership, coaching, managing performance and career development and training of team members.Identify and lead initiatives to improve processes and systems, driving collaboration between teams to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.Ensure a thorough understanding of and adherence to necessary controls and regulatory requirements, applying them to the day-to-day order execution process.Resolve any discrepancies in fuel tax filings and ensure any issues are promptly addressed and rectified.Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff regarding regulatory requirement and safety practices.Challenge the status quo by identifying value-creation opportunities, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and drive efficiencies across teams.Demonstrate adaptability to take on additional tasks or assist in other areas as needed, contributing to a team-oriented environment focused on achieving business objectives.Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, transportation) to ensure alignment of company goals.Act as the primary point of contact for compliance/tax related questions.Collaborate with transportation and legal teams to ensure seamless compliance with regulatory frameworks.Since we are all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skills may be put to a lot of other uses!  

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree in the area of accounting, finance, or a related field. 3+ years working in an accounting or finance role2+ years of leadership experience, mentoring, coaching and developing teams
