We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025. Responsibilities Interpreting and utilizing engineering drawings and models for the machining and fabrication of composite laminate, honeycomb core structure, and adhesive bonded test specimens using traditional machining equipment (3-axis CNC mill, surface grinder, tile saw, band-saw, low-speed precision saw, and various pneumatic trim tools) to meet dimensional tolerance and finish requirementsAssisting in the development and drafting of computer-aided design (CAD) models for test specimens, panel fabrication tooling, and bond fixturesResponsible set-up and routine maintenance of machining equipmentUse of dimensional inspection equipment to record and present specimen dimension data prior to mechanical testing and/or thermal analysisPerforming calculations in both standard and metric unitsMaintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspaceFollowing all Joby safety procedures, including all OSHA regulations/requirements Required Minimum 3+ years of machining experience (additional experience working in a lab or composite manufacturing setting is a plus)Strong math skills and a knowledge of engineering documentation, drawings, and models (understanding of and familiarity with GD&T)Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and machine requirements for smooth/safe operationAbility to read and operate inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, height-gauges, microscopes, and scalesBasic knowledge of composites (including twill and uni-directional prepregs, paste and film adhesives, and honeycomb core)Ability to lift >35 lbs. unassisted and stand at work station for extended periods of time (>4 hours), not including meals and break times Desired Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (an Associates degree in machining/fabrication or GD&T course experience is highly preferred)Excellent technical aptitude and analytical skillsHighly developed attention to detail and critical thinking skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills‘Problem-solver’ mindset with a willingness to learn and collaborate effectively with other team members

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $30.00 - $39.00/hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
