**Composite Technician II - Pascagoula, MS**
**Job Description**
+ We are looking for an experienced Composite Technician to undertake a variety of tasks related to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and layup onboard US Navy ships in San Diego, CA. For the first month, you will be traveling to Pascagoula, MS. The role involves supporting several different ship classes and types at various Navy installations around the United States coastal areas.
**Responsibilities**
+ Undergo composite certification and qualification training
+ Execute composite installation, repairs, and modifications to shipboard composite structures as part of a small team
+ Ensure compliance with applicable installation procedures and practices
+ Complete and retain all required documentation in the project QA book
+ Report daily progress updates to your supervisor or lead
+ Adhere to all safety precautions associated with composite material handling and use, and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations when handling, transporting, and disposing of composite material and hazardous material/waste
+ Adhere to all shipyard, shipboard, and OSHA safety requirements
+ Maintain quality standards associated with composite repair and installation as prescribed by the Composite Workbooks and Composite Owner’s Manual
+ Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and design notices
+ Use basic computer skills and be familiar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel
**Essential Skills**
+ Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)
+ Familiarity and proficiency with Composite Owner’s Manual and Composite Work Item Workbook
+ Familiarity with NAVY Standard Items
+ Ability to read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements and drawings
+ Keen attention to detail and quality metric driven
+ US citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus)
+ Fluency in English (verbal and written)
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Secret DOD security Clearance preferred
+ Shipyard competent person certification a plus
+ Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
+ Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds independently
+ Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities
+ Flexibility with scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement
+ Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials
**Work Environment**
+ For the first month of employment, work will be performed at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS, aboard the USS ZUMWALT. The position requires adherence to shipyard, shipboard, and OSHA safety requirements. Be prepared to work in various locations and environments in support of ship maintenance availabilities.
**Job Type & Location**
+ This is a Contract to Hire position.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $29.40 - $32.31/hr.
