The Composites Lead will lead the day-to-day composites operations and ensure compliance with allspecifications to maintain a high standard of quality. The role will assist composite technicians, providing
guidance and direction while ensuring compliance with shop rules. The Composites Lead will be hands-on and involved in the daily activities and oversee the completion of the assignments of the Composite team.
As a Composites Lead, you will:Maintain proper ply orientation and counts and ensure proper part conformityPrepare molds for layup and maintain mold surface qualityAllocate available labor resources to ensure production schedules are metAssist in training and monitoring composite shop staffSet daily production goals for individual employees and follows up on progressEnsure materials and counts are correct before laminationOptimize overlaps to eliminate unnecessary weight while maintaining structural integrityPrepare vacuum bags per general bagging and debagging proceduresOperate ovens and autoclaves ensuring vacuum is maintained throughoutObserve and maintain material out-life throughout lamination processTrack material usages and ensure accurate inventory countsTo be considered as a Composites Lead, you will need:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 5 years of experience in a composite shopStrong mechanical skillsAbility to operate small hand tool skills (drills, sanders, grinders)Ability to work as part of a teamKnowledge of basic shop mathA successful candidate may also have: Experience in laminating prepreg carbon fiberExperience in a leadership role, training othersExperience in low volume composite manufacturingKnowledge of basic computer skillsKnowledge of the use and application of adhesives, sealants, primers, and compositesFamiliarity with detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documentsOutstanding record of overcoming obstacles with limited resources in a dynamic manufacturing
environmentAbility to work overtime as needed including weekends
