What you will do:   

 

This Compressor Test Engineer will join a new R&D lab in Davidson, NC and support the development of Trane Technologies HVAC products.  This engineer is responsible for many functions of laboratory engineering: data review and troubleshooting, managing and modifying test facilities including standard test development, test planning, process controls, instrumentation, and programming PLC controls.  A successful candidate values safety and diversity and enjoys technical leadership, project management, hands-on laboratory work, and problem-solving as part of a team.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

Manage testing for compressor development and validation in collaboration with product development teamsOwn test facilities’ capability and ensure equipment has the necessary capabilities and reliability to produce quality dataSupport the design and build of new facilities and experimental setupsCoordinate with external vendors and contractorsDevelop standard test procedures to drive test efficiency and lab throughputDevelop expertise on data acquisition systemsEnsure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standardsMaintain facility documentationSupport continuous improvement activities such as 5S and implementing Lean principlesUp to 20% overnight travel required during the first year for training.  Less than 10% travel subsequent.

 

What you will bring: 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied sciences and at least 3 years of relevant experience OR a master's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience is required.Experience with product development or testing for compressors or HVACProficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) requiredStrong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication to interface effectively across functionsCreative problem solver who demonstrates intellectual curiosity and growth mindsetMust be safety-minded and adhere to PPE requirements, as required

Compensation:

 

Base Pay Range: $80,000-$110,000
