Compute Storage Infrastructure Solution Engineer

The Compute & Storage Infrastructure Solution Engineer is responsible for leading technical requirements gathering and design sessions with stakeholders as it relates to infrastructure services with a primary focus on cloud, on-premises, and colocation data center compute and storage. This role is integral in translating service and product vision to the internal and 3rd party teams who will execute the work. **Role:** **Compute & Storage Infrastructure Solutions Engineer** **Location:** Hybrid- 2 days remote, 3 days on site at the Lake Forest campus **Position Summary:** The **Compute & Storage Infrastructure Solution Engineer** is responsible for leading technical requirements gathering and design sessions with stakeholders as it relates to **infrastructure services with a primary focus on cloud,** on-premises, and colocation data center compute and storage. This role is integral in translating service and product vision to the **internal and 3rd party teams who will execute the work** **.** **Key Accountabilities:** + **Strategic and Technical Leadership:** + Collaborate with business and IT leadership to lead the design of complex infrastructure service solutions. + Define technical roadmaps and strategies for cloud and on-premises infrastructure specifications and standards. + Create and disseminate technical requirements, design documentation, service and product vision to stakeholders and internal and external IT teams executing the work. + Govern service life cycle management, including change, operational readiness, and new and deprecating technical features. + **Drive resources to** scope, design, and present proof of concept, analyzing for technical feasibility, project constraints and implementation risks. + **Innovation and Collaboration** + Understand and solve business problems through creative technology solutions. + Drive innovation and explore new technologies to improve existing solutions. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the design and implementation of infrastructure service solutions. + Collaborate with users to incorporate feedback and influence application/product design. + Ensure solutions are in alignment with existing enterprise architecture framework and business standards. + **Compute & Storage/Data Center Technical Expertise:** + **Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM):** Lead design, setup, and maintenance of data center hardware and facilities, including servers, storage systems, networking gear, and power/cooling systems. + **Virtualization Technology:** Leverage expertise in virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Nutanix, or KVM. + **Storage Solutions and Management:** Manage a variety of storage architectures such as SAN, NAS, DAS, leverage expertise in configuring replication, data deduplication, backup/recovery, and data protection techniques such as air gapping. + **Network Design and Implementation:** Utilize data center networking concepts, including switch and router configuration, VLAN setup, and the implementation of redundancy and high availability protocols such as HSRP and VRRP. + **Security and Compliance:** + **Incorporate security best practices to design solutions compliant with standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, or NIST CSF.** + **Develop and execute remediation plans for security vulnerabilities.** **Minimum Requirements:** + Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in engineering and/or applications development OR a high school diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant experience + Experience effectively communicating with and advising non-technical senior business leaders and technical engineers as a technical subject matter/expert consultant, including experience leading service design and technical requirements gathering + Demonstrated experience designing and deploying cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions + Experience aligning solutions with business and IT strategies + Experience leading, delegating, monitoring, and supporting the hands-on technical execution of work via internal and vendor-based/3rd party teams + Experience researching new technologies, frameworks, and tools and securing support and approval via senior leadership and Enterprise Architecture + Experience driving proof of concept and analyzing technical feasibility, project constraints, risk evaluation, and defining roadmaps for infrastructure technical services + Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and business standards + Knowledge of service life cycle management + Experience with Microsoft Azure based infrastructure engineering + Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and vSphere + Experience with performance optimization + Experience with Azure Blob Storage and NetApp Data storage solutions + Experience designing and building high availability and Disaster Recovery solutions + Experience in the design, setup, and maintenance of data center hardware and facilities, including servers, storage systems, networking gear, and power/cooling systems leveraging infrastructure as code and scripting techniques + Experience providing technical oversight for a variety of storage architectures such as SAN, NAS, DAS, including experience configuring replication, data deduplication, backup/recovery, and data protection techniques such as air gapping + Experience with physical and cloud networking concepts **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience with AWS and Google Cloud Brand: Trustmark Come join a team at Trustmark that will not only utilize your current skills but will enhance them as well.
