What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for Computer and Electronics Engineer to provide statistical modeling, server and software management, database management, advanced web development, and data visualization.  The candidate will also apply their knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and proficiency with a variety of statistical and computational techniques to optimize extraction and analysis of multivariate data.  The applications developed will be used to assist in the analysis of a broad range of data sets.  This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.  

Apply a variety of statistical and computational techniques to solve complex analytic problems. For example, assist researchers with biostatistics and statistical modeling across a range of applications.Apply knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) to optimize extraction and analysis of multivariate data Use advanced knowledge and proficiency with a variety of statistical and computational techniques.Develop scientific applications using R, Shiny and/or Python. For example, implement these applications for analysis of a broad range of data sets, including time series, transcriptomics, and behavioral data.Develop or utilize new or existing technology to develop dynamic web applications or software tools for bioinformatics application.Provide technical experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying existing programming systems.Select appropriate statistical methods for use in quality control analysis to ensure the reliability and consistency of the data while measuring data limitations.Transfer and transform data across different platforms or inter-change between software and integrate software and tools into a viable platform.Improve communications between bespoke experimental equipment for storage and data processing. Provide technical experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying existing programming systems. Provide scientific research and programming support for cutting edge technology and training in the areas of bioinformatics and computational biology.Collaborate with staff to develop database application and tools for supporting bioinformatics and scientific computing research projects.Maintain the lab’s software projects, including associated websites, documentation, code repositories, releases, and improvements. Knowledge of Linux (especially Debian) to establish compliant repositories of data and laboratory information such as laboratory protocols. Develop and implement backup strategies for all data and applications in central facilities and as needed at individual workstations; use redundant disk, server, backup, and power systemsProvide feasibility studies and research for compatibility and ease of scientific databases use by researchers for extensive scientific data analyses.Design, develop and deploy software for multi-core and high-performance computing systems. Provide written technical descriptions of implemented algorithms; contribute to the publication of the lab’s software and research.Manage and troubleshoot deployments and image builds to include tasks such as developing new code and refine/troubleshoot existing code and troubleshooting scripts and programs to ensure successful use of said scripts and programs.

What You Will Need:

Bachelor’s DegreeMinimum of THREE (3) years of computer science related experience, including at least ONE (1) year of statistical modeling experienceDemonstrated experience with application development utilizing languages such as MATLAB, R Languages, Python or Shiny languagesFamiliar with platforms/ tools such as LINUX, relational databases (PostgreSQL), or GitHub

What Would Be Nice To Have:

The annual salary range for this position is $57,300.00-$85,900.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
