What is a Computer Hardware & Logistics Associate at SMT?

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our Systems and Logistics teams. SMT’s Systems department is responsible for our hardware technologies deployed in the field of sports broadcasts, and you will work closely with the team to ensure our technology is tested, prepared and ready for use in the field. You will also actively assist the Logistics department making sure shipping and receiving responsibilities are completed accurately and efficiently. 

 

This is a part-time position, with the schedule of 12:00PM-6:00PM, Monday to Friday. However, given the nature of the live sports and broadcast industry, your working hours may include nights, weekends or holiday hours to achieve our business needs. This position may include minimal travel, up to 5%, for equipment and technology installs.

 

What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

You will report to our Durham, NC office daily, and collaborate with our systems, logistics and operations teams to help provide technology that changes the game in the sports broadcast industry. Your impact will include:

Aiding in the setup, installation, and configuration of broadcast systems.Testing peripheral hardware when returned from the field.Providing ongoing system maintenance, including routine hardware upgrades and component replacements.Inspecting, verifying, and recording incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and quality.Organizing and labeling new inventory for storage and distribution.Ensuring systems are properly packed to prevent damage during transit.Scheduling and coordinating pickups with shipping carriers.Generating shipping labels and documentation, including packing slips and bills of lading (BOLs).Ensuring departmental procedures and tools are being followed and used appropriately.

 

What Do You Bring to SMT? 


Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.Possess in-depth knowledge of computer hardware systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, configure, and optimize.Familiarity with shipping software and basic inventory management systems is a plus.Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications to support day-to-day administrative and operational tasks.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Self-motivated and proactive with strong independent and teamwork capabilities.Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously.Proficiency in interpreting and implementing technical diagrams.Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to engage in a professional and positive manner.Advanced knowledge of sports rules, and terminology is highly preferred.Proven ability to perform in a goal-oriented environment.The ability to work nights, weekends or holidays if needed
