Position Overview

QinetiQ US is looking for a Computer Programmer Intern to join our team this summer! In this collaborative role, you will apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios, enhancing your programming skills, and contribute to real-world projects. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, you will also work on various aspects of software development, from coding and debugging to testing and deployment.

Responsibilities Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in accordance with project requirements and coding standardsConduct thorough testing of developed software to identify and rectify bugs and ensure optimal performanceWork closely with team members to understand project objectives, share insights, and contribute ideas for improving software solutionsDocument code, processes, and project-related information to ensure clarity and facilitate seamless collaboration among team membersStay updated with the latest technologies, programming languages, and industry trends to continuously enhance your skills and contribute innovative solutionsAnalyze technical issues and propose effective solutions, demonstrating a strong problem-solving mindsetAssist in project planning, task prioritization, and time management to ensure timely delivery of quality software solutionsCommunicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders to provide project updates, seek clarification, and address concerns Required Qualifications Currently seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related fieldsProficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principlesFamiliarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum, and version control systemsDetailed-oriented, with a solutions-oriented mindsetBasic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database conceptsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach complex problems systematicallyEagerness to learn, adaptability to new technologies, and a proactive attitude towards tackling challengesOutstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communications with proven ability to work collaboratively with other functional groups to shape and influence business-specific agendasExcellent organizational skills and ability to multitask/prioritize based on urgencyDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and lead through influence, including a strong sense of when to take action, delegate, and escalatePositive attitude and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to work independently on a project basis and meet frequent deadlinesExcellent project management skillsAvailability to work flexible hours when requiredExperience with the following computer applications: Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Preferred Qualifications Comfort in learning new tools and platforms Company EEO Statement
