The University of Miami Department of UMHC-SCCC Survivorship currently has an exciting opportunity for a full time Concierge Coordinator to work in Miami. The incumbent liaises between referral sources, hospitals, and physicians to meet the healthcare needs of patients seeking medical care within the University of Miami Health System.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates the full cycle of medical services for international or VIP patients by gathering all
pertinent data from patient, referring physicians, and payers.
2. Organizes transportation and lodging for patients transferring to or seeking services at UM
facilities.
3. Schedules appointments, registers patients, and verifies insurance coverage.
4. Negotiates discount and bundled package pricing and obtains letters of agreement and
payments from self-pay patients and other payers within guidelines.
5. Follows up with patients and non-contracted payers to collect funds.
6. Serves as an after-hour contact for one week on a rotating basis.
7. Troubleshoots any problem independently and expeditiously.
8. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required
Certification and Licensing (Department Specific)
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relative experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
• Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Able to develop and input into Power BI Dashboards.
• Experience with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Access Database)
Department Specific Functions
1. Flags patients appropriate for SCCC Friends & Family, VMD, or PAP CORPS
2. Generates report of flagged patients on a daily basis
3. Reviews report with Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and disseminates to designated
department/cancer center leaders.
4. Coordinates care for patients flagged as SCCC Friends & Family.
5. Discusses APP case for clinical support.
6. Periodically contacts established patients for follow-up.
7. Is a liaison and support between patient, care team, and department leadership.
8. Refers to financial counselors, social work, or nurse navigation when indicated and to reduce barriers
to care.
9. Works with Patient Experience Team for the care of mutual patients and patients requiring service
recovery.
10. Collaborates with the International Department on out-of-country patients requiring care.
11. Performs courtesy visits to patients at Sylvester, Tower, or UM satellites.
12. On-call during weekdays and weekends on a rotation basis.
13. Updates data and Power BI dashboard.
14. Provides patients with all required information regarding appointments and payment policies (i.e.,
parking, cash policies, anticipated charges, required ancillary services, cancellation policy).
15. Refers patients to advocacy groups and other patient support organizations.
16. Troubleshoots insurance and financial concerns with the care team (CIV, utilization review, and CBO)
17. Participates in quality improvement projects/initiatives.
18. Attend community events as requested.
19. Support the Patient and Family Advisory Committee when needed.
20. Other duties as assigned that support the team in the care of cancer patients that is within the scope of
this role.
