Job Summary

 

Oldcastle Infrastructure is looking for a Concrete Design Engineer Intern. Interns will have the opportunity to apply their classroom-learned skills to assist the development of production drawing sets and layouts for precast products manufactured at our facilities. This position is expected to start in person around May 2025 and continue through the entire summer term (i.e. through August 2025). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, onsite for most internships. The supervising engineer may be hybrid / remote, so diligent communication skills are a must.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Assist with structural design portions of a underground and/or above-ground precast products according to various codes and standards under the direct supervision of the engineering department Participates in the analysis and validation of design concepts Perform design calculations for given projects where appropriate Performs routine engineering tasks using standard engineering practices Learn to apply applicable design principles related to project requirements Follow Oldcastle’s procedures for creation of product drawings utilizing AutoCAD Review bills of materials and production drawings Assist drafters and engineers as needed

 

Job Requirements

 

Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (possibly open to Mechanical, but not preferred), or other related discipline and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities Demonstrated knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals and design of reinforced concrete Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Autodesk AutoCAD. Working knowledge of Smartsheets is a plus Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal skills and exemplary oral/written communication skills Ability to work both independently and in a team setting Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment, wear appropriate PPE as supplied and instructed Ability to write reports and analyze raw data Knowledge of construction practices pertaining to roadways, drainage, or underground infrastructure is a plus

 

Job Compensation

 

The hourly pay rate for this position is $25/hr
