THE JOB:
The Conference and Events Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of selling and servicing catering-only and convention group catering, from contract turnover to billing. This role operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment focused on selling food and beverage services. Additionally, they are responsible for the successful execution of programs by collaborating with various departments on property and accurately budgeting and forecasting for their assigned groups.
You will play a vital role in our mission to own the guest’s experience and create WOW memories that they will carry with them far beyond their stay with us.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
The Manager of Conferences and Events is responsible for handling all group details once confirmed by Convention Sales, including food and beverage programs, menu selections, estimated and actual food and beverage revenue, and setup requirements for catering functions through group departureThis role also manages sub-group arrangements, including credit and space requirements, and responds to new catering business inquiriesFor catering groups, the Manager will gather client requirements to execute the catering contract and ensure all necessary deposits, payments, and signatures on contracts, policies, and banquet event orders are obtainedThe Manager is responsible for checking banquet space availability and effectively booking the facilities, as well as conducting tours of banquet facilities, sleeping rooms, and other areas of the hotelThe position includes producing and distributing event details such as banquet event orders and ordering outside services for eventsThe Manager will maintain a flexible schedule to be present at various functions, ensuring that all catering services are delivered in accordance with property standards and are of the highest qualityAdditional duties include conducting pre-convention and weekly departmental meetings and adhering to all departmental policies and proceduresTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experienceOne (1) year of previous sales experience selling Food and BeveragePrevious experience working in a similar resort settingExperience handling large convention groups of 100 people or moreCatering experience at a major convention hotel, with knowledge of banquet operationsAble to work under pressure dealing with multiple work assignments and meeting deadlines, and to make decisions and work independentlyAbility to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlinesExceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all stakeholdersAble to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal formsTHE PERKS & BENEFITS:
