Compensation & Hours + 20 hours/week graduate assistantship (fall and spring semesters) + $4,000/semester (fall and spring) + Up to 35 hours May, June and July (hourly rate as a full-time summer worker, no summer graduate classes) + 100% tuition remission for Grand View's graduate program + Days off when classes are not in session during academic year. Ex) MLK Day, Fall Break, Spring Break Essential Functions of Job: + Assist the Director of Conferencing in room set-up for conferences and events scheduled on campus (moving furniture, room preparation, A/V technology, etc-). + Assist clients with room setup/changes and troubleshoot technology issues in conference spaces. + Manage the Student Center schedule for all internal meetings and events including responding to requests, coordinating details, and catering. + Administration of parking waivers, ticket, and appeals, and provide support to the Parking Committee. + Perform various administrative tasks associated with the needs of the Conferencing department, including expense management. + Oversee/assist with the summer intern housing program by coordinating with summer interns about their application, room assignments, check-in/out procedures along with the Summer Conferencing Assistants + Oversee/assist with assigning summer camp/intern cleaning responsibilities including cleaning rooms and laundry + Greet and direct visitors and answer general university questions in person and via telephone at the Welcome Center. + Maintain office equipment and ordering of supplies. + Approve signs for posting on campus bulletin boards. + Supervise and train work-study students, coordinate scheduling, delegate duties, etc- + Assist in daily upkeep of Student Center lounge, lobby and conference spaces. + Point of contact for Employer Table Requests: respond, manage and submit invoices. + Prepare and type correspondence and other documents as needed. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: + Ability to lift and move equipment and furniture is required (various weights and sizes, occasionally up to 50 lbs) + Night and weekend hours will be required based on events + Verbal and written communication skills are required + Must work well independently + Proficiency in Microsoft Office + Willingness to learn + Strong work ethic Working Conditions: + Physical demands - lifting up to 30-50 pounds. Requires frequent moving/carrying and set-up/tear down of tables, chairs, and other furniture. + Requires prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping and stretching. + Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position. + Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. + Night and weekend hours will be required based on events.
