Configuration Management Engineer

This role is a part of New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space!

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will facilitate configuration management and control for various spaceflight systems. You will provide essential contributions to the team’s impact on all aspects of configuration management for each phase of the development lifecycle. You will be encouraged to own the design integration within the overall vehicle configuration. You will coordinate regular configuration reviews to address vehicle and subsystem interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly, and operations. Other duties will include guiding multi-functional teams through the Engineering Change process; supporting the resolution of integration issues with lead engineers and their respective teams; and developing or managing control documents associated with interface definitions between subsystems and vehicles. Setting up, leading and conducting Change Control Board Meetings will be included in your basic responsibilities.

Additional Responsibilities:Maintain the high level Engineering Bill of Materials and product structureEnsure the team adheres to industry and Blue Origin configuration management standards and methodologiesSupport process of developing system requirements, flow down, and verification planningSupport improvement of program policy and procedures around effective configuration & change managementEnsure that the configuration supports major design reviews and the integration landmarksMaintain and report on engineering development activity and technical issuesClear communication and collaboration with all development teams involved on projectsClear communication with senior program leaders including chief engineers and program directors

Minimum Qualifications:B.S. degree in engineering and 6+ years proven ability in design, development, sustainment and/or configuration management of highly integrated, complex productsExperience in aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or other related industry.Proven configuration control experience on recently developed products from early trade studies through final design and into manufacturing and test, maintenance and sustaining.Management of multiple configuration variants of a common design baseline.Management of changes to an operational (fielded) system with varying effectivities across multiple productsFamiliar with viewing and navigating large models in CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred)Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive cultureMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumAbility to navigate in a fast-paced environment with standard work and special projects

Preferred Qualifications:Experience with large assembly management in PTC Creo or other CAD tool.Experience with PTC Windchill PLM toolsFamiliar with CAD conventions such as ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques and related quality control conceptsKnowledge of current industry standard systems engineering and integration tools, methodologiesExperience in a hard engineering skill such as mechanical, payloads, propulsion, etc.


 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00;CO applicants is $102,382.50-$143,335.50;WA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00
