Configuration Management Engineer

Kratos is seeking a Configuration Management Engineer for SATCOM and Space Ground Systems projects varying in size and complexity. The Configuration Management Engineer will work on developmental and operational projects and programs and be part of the cross functional teams assigned to meet the contractual requirements of the projects and programs. The Configuration Management Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining configuration management processes and standards to ensure consistency, reliability, and efficiency in the management of systems, products, software, and hardware configurations. This includes defining and documenting configuration management plans, managing configuration baselines, overseeing version control, and ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards as necessary and appropriate to support the requirements of the developmental and operational projects and programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: + Generate Configuration Management Plans required to support developmental and operational projects and programs, and for the Kratos organization + Be an active participant and or lead Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities regarding configuration management and control, ensuring effective Configuration Management of the appropriate documentation is maintained + Support and or administer root cause and correct action efforts to address issues impacting configuration compliance and requirements + Create and maintain accurate configuration item records necessary to support developmental and operational projects and programs, and for a Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) for the Kratos organization + Support internal and external compliance audits, and potentially FCAs and PCAs + Track and control software, hardware, and documentation versions to maintain baseline integrity on developmental and operational projects and programs + Provide detailed reports on configuration status, changes, proposals, and potential impacts to the project and or program + Own and update as appropriate the Kratos Configuration Management Plan as required to meet our ISO standards + Implement a Configuration/Data Management (CM/DM) program documented in the Configuration Management Plan (CMP) + Generate labor estimates for Configuration Management execution for projects, programs, and proposals + Support internal and external Engineering and Quality reviews and audits + Independently and in collaboration with the Quality department, conduct audits to ensure configuration compliance with established standards and baselines + Serve as the primary point of contact, internally and externally, for configuration management related queries and issues Required Experience: + BS in an Engineering or a STEM degree, with at least 5 years relevant work experience (willing to consider a range of work and educational levels) + Having 5+ years of relevant experience being a Configuration Management Engineer (or Document Analyst) in an industry that requires managing software, hardware, and processes (engineering, production, manufacturing, …). + Experience in assessing the CM requirements of a developmental and operational project and program, and generating an appropriate Configuration Management Plan + Generating Configuration Management plans, processes, and procedures for developmental and operational projects and programs + Conducting and or supporting CCBs and RCCAs for Configuration Management topics/issues + Executing configuration management for developmental and operational projects and programs + Strong knowledge of Configuration Management principles, tools, and processes + Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact directly with customers, subcontractors, and management + Ability to work effectively with cross functional internal and external teams + Ability to work with ambiguous and loosely defined project and program requirements and generate a focused CM plan and process to meet and or propose the CM requirements for a developmental and operational project and program + Travel as required to support a project ~ 10% travel + The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, Secret and TS/SCI Desired Skills and Experience + Document and Data Management + Experience in SATCOM and Satellite Ground Requirements Management and or the Defense and Airspace industry + Agile development practices and processes + Having CM oversight and responsibility of subcontractors + Atlassian Tool Suite + Familiarity with automated test scripting and tools (e.g., Bamboo) + Familiarity with Configuration Management Tools (e.g., Git, Atlassian tools, Artifactory, CMPro, etc.) + Configuration Management Certifications (CMPIC) + Familiarity with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, …) + Familiarity with Docker/Container/Kubernetes + Experience with CI/CD pipeline + Analytical problem solving + Ability to provide CM training + TS/SCI #LI-Onsite Competitive salary based on experience and education Salary Range: $100,000-$160,000 Kratos is valued for our ability to design and deliver leading edge, resilient solutions for aerospace communication, control, awareness and mission success across a continuum of offerings—from commercial to tailored custom solutions and integrated programs.
