Conflicts Attorney (Minneapolis, MN) (#3901) We are seeking aConflicts Attorneyto join our growing team that researches, reviews, and resolves conflict of interest issues related to Firm new business and lateral attorney hires. You will collaborate with Conflicts team members, the Firm’s Ethics Counsel, Claims Counsel, Lawyer Recruiting and attorneys firm-wide to efficiently and effectively assist with matter openings, potential new hires and ongoing maintenance. Additional Responsibilities Include: - Research, review and analyze conflicts reports in order to accurately identify potential legal conflicts and business issues, and assist attorneys in addressing or resolving them. - Identify potential conflicts of interest to ensure that new matters and lateral attorney hires are compliant with the firm’s conflict and risk management policies and applicable rules of professional conduct. - Actively consult and advise firm attorneys regarding the status of conflicts clearance. Ensure timely matter opening. - Use the firm’s specialized software and databases to review and clear potential conflicts. Document steps taken to resolve conflicts and ensure outside counsel documentation is up to date. Enter pertinent information into the conflicts system. - Assist with drafting of conflicts waivers and establishing ethics walls as requested. - Review client outside counsel guidelines and assess the firm’s ability to comply. - Study and stay current with laws and rules pertaining to conflicts of interest. - Assists in the preparation and delivery of training and orientation for attorneys and staff on related matter opening topics. - Perform various special projects and duties as assigned. What we’re looking for: - A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school. - Interpretation and problem-solving skills. - Knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Ability to communicate with lawyers and business professionals to assist with the timely resolution of conflicts. - Strong writing and organizational skills. - Ability to understand how small details can be of critical importance. - Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities. Preferred: - Minnesota bar admission. - At least 3 years of experience at a large law firm. - Conflict clearance experience at large law firm.
