Based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, NTCE (Nissan Technical Centre, Europe) is our UK Research and Development hub. We are home to the functions that help us lead the way in vehicle design and development of the vehicles manufactured in our European plants. With more than 900 people based here from over 25 different countries, it’s a hive of ideas, imagination, and vision, based in open-plan spacious offices designed to encourage cross-functional collaboration. The teams at the Cranfield Nissan Technical Centre work to develop engineering and design requirements for new car models across the world. Here you’ll find departments such as Research & Development, Product Economic Control, Purchasing, Legal, HR, Finance and Total Customer Satisfaction, all enjoying modern on-site facilities like our gym, sports, and social club.
Purpose
This 12 month Research & Development industrial placement, starting in August 2025, is a great chance to take theory from university and put it into practice in a fast-paced environment. This provides a chance for real responsibility and hands-on experience in a challenging and diverse environment.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
You will spend a year working with the Electronics and Electrical (E&E) test team who validate the overall vehicle E&E systems.
The year is spent doing hands on E&E testing as well as benchmarking other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) vehicles
Perform testing in the vehicle related to the EE systems which includes but limited to:
Body Electronics Test
Power supply and Harness
Instrument clusters, Audio and park aid
Defining test cases based on technical specifications of E&E systems.
Confirming vehicle level quality, function & reliability standards are maintained when changes are implemented.
Raise incident tickets in the incident management system and track them through to closure.
Support automated test development
Other OEM benchmarking of E&E systems
Market quality investigations and countermeasure development, when needed
Skills you would develop:
Software validation project management
Software development process (V-cycle)
Software risk analysis and test definition
Software quality concern management and resolution (Jira, Test Rail etc)
Software Test Automation methods
Root cause analysis and problem solving
What you will need to be successful
You should be studying for one of the below qualification(s): Undergraduate
Electronic/Electrical Engineering
Computer Science
Computer Networking
Telecoms and networking
IT / Data analyst
The successful candidate should have the following skills, interests, or experience:
An interest in vehicle electronics
Curiosity and passion for customer facing technologies
Readiness to work in a multinational team
Confidence when presenting
Methodical, systematic approach to solving problems
Good planning, organising and time management skills.
Be self-motivating and self-managing, Pro-active, energetic, and flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
Sufficient evidence of your right to work in the UK will be required.

Competitive base salary at £21,587

Standard Working Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-1:20pm
