Construction Controller
Description We are in search of a Construction Controller to join our team in West Point, Virginia. As a Construction Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting decision making. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of accounting activities, including overseeing financial operations in a construction setting, although this industry experience is not a prerequisite. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily accounting operations, including managing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. • Handle key areas of accounting including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, intangibles, and cash management. • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process under the guidance of the finance team. • Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of any audit findings. • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. • Provide accounting-related support to Project Management. • Review job budgets with the Project Management team and Vice President of Operations prior to system setup. • Set up new jobs, cost codes, budgets, and perform monthly reporting for review with Project Management and the Vice President of Operations. • Mentor and train junior staff members in accounting principles and best practices. • Take on additional projects as defined by the finance team. Requirements • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems • Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services • Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions • Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC) • Ability to perform Accounting Functions • Expertise in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience in Auditing • Knowledge of Budget Processes • Experience in the Construction industry • Familiarity with Construction Accounting and Construction Cost • Proven experience in managing Construction Projects - Accounting • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
