COMPENSATION

Hourly Minimum - Maximum$45.00 - $56.00

Forest Lawn’s Architecture & Engineering Department is seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator to report and assist a Project Manager on multiple construction projects in the eleven architecturally unique and distinct Forest Lawn locations across Southern California. This position will be on the field and act as a construction site field representative, inspect each construction project, ensure that a safe construction site is maintained, plans are followed and our standards met. This position will be the eyes and ears of the project manager and shepherd the project to successful completion. In addition, the Construction Coordinator will be a conduit between the jobsite and the A&E office and will work as part of a team with the project manager. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING   

Coordinate field work when verifying existing conditions at the jobsite (survey, potholing, POC determination, utilities, wall heights, footing depths, etc.). Be on the field, including in inclement weather.

Assist Project Manager with plan check and permitting needs as requested. 

Review and verify all construction documents before bid walk and assist in ensuring that all documents are complete and well coordinated. Attend the bid walk and assist the project manager with RFI responses as required. 

Read, understand and enforce all aspects of the construction documents during construction and ensure contractor maintains up-to-date construction documents at the jobsite. 

Closely monitor and document all construction site activities and change orders with daily reports and jobsite photographs – document crew sizes, equipment, deliveries, time and material changes, and hours spend on projects. Communicate any concerns to the project manager. 

Attend pre-construction and weekly jobsite meetings; assist the Project Manager as needed. 

Manage the construction checklist included in the project specifications, ensuring that sign-offs are secured and the form is kept up-to-date. 

Coordinate all jobsite work with park operations, funeral services, and maintenance. Ensure that all jobsite personnel are respectful to the cemetery surroundings and assist families as necessary. 

Assist with RFI responses and issue construction change directives (CCDs) as necessary.  Ensure all change orders are understood by the contractor and appropriately integrated into the jobsite construction documents.  Closely monitor and document time and material change orders on the jobsite. 

Ensure all Stormwater Pollution and Prevention Plan (SWPPP) regulations are followed and perform the stormwater and non-stormwater inspections as necessary to ensure appropriate BMP deployment and practices.  Assist in preparation of Rain Event Action Plans (REAPs) and perform stormwater sampling as required during a qualified rain event. 

Ensure jobsite safety by all entities on the jobsite throughout the construction period. 

Work with contractor to ensure project is on schedule; notifying Project Manager of any concerns or discrepancies. 

Ensure that owner-supplied materials are properly inspected, stored and protected on the jobsite. 

Assist in coordinating building department inspections, deputy inspections, consultant site inspections, etc. 

Ensure that accurate and up-to-date as-builts are maintained at the jobsite during construction and assist with final as-built documentation at project completion. 

Assist the Project Manager with sales map and clearance paperwork – ensuring all information and graphics are accurate and represent actual site conditions. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

Must be comfortable to be on the field majority of the day, including in inclement weather.

High School Diploma or GED. 

Bachelor’s degree (Construction Management or related field preferred) 

Minimum of five years in Construction Site Management. 

Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Must have the ability to read and understand construction contracts, blueprints, specifications and schedules.  

Must have excellent interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; and strong ability to self-motivate and self-direct. 

Must be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills. 

Valid California Driver License is required and ability to travel between various construction sites throughout Southern California. 

Knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, SWPPP, and AQMD requirements. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and digital photography. 

Must be customer service oriented. 

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills specifically correspondence to regulatory agencies. 

Experience working with contractors and subcontractors in a construction site environment required. 

AQMD PM-10 certification is required. 

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS  

SWPPP certification as a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP). 

OSHA-30 certification.  

Experience with Procore a plus.
