Construction Estimator

Job Description

- Sets up construction project estimates to comply with the estimating standards of the company.

- Reads and understands plans and specifications for a variety of projects.

- Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements.

- Provides accurate quantity take-off of materials necessary to construct the project as presented in plans and/or specifications.

- Provides analysis of labor and equipment necessary to perform portions of the work by the company and conveys this information to management for go/no-go decisions.

- Provides accurate analysis of the project scope in order to convey this information to the assigned pursuit team to ascertain bid strategy and pricing.

- Effective use of the Company-provided estimating software to ensure accurate and complete bid and budgetary pricing.

- Accurately identifies the types of subcontractors necessary to complete any given project with the understanding of the work scope and location of the project.

- Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating pricing.

- Cultivates and fosters relationships with subcontractors, both new and existing.

- Interacts clearly with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and fellow associates in all forms of communications.

- Evaluates, coordinates, collaborates with suppliers and/or subcontractors pricing to ensure they have included a complete scope of work.

- Actively works with the business development team to design successful bid strategies.

- Interacts effectively with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors after the bid in order to obtain as much information as possible.

- Maintains current cost data and updates estimating databases for accuracy.

- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

- Tracks and reports key metrics to the Director of Estimating as required.

- Performs other duties as required.


Additional Skills & Qualifications

- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or commensurate work experience is preferred

- 2+ years of experience in commercial construction

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $92000.00
