What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: Generally responsible for performing construction coordination for small to moderate construction assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision.  

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Follow all plant operating and safety procedures to make on-the-job decisions to permit safe and efficient operations of the area and the overall plant, according to specified and delegated authority. This includes periodic contractor audits per the division contractor safety policy. Ensure the work is carried out safely and in an effective and efficient way. 

Ensure Contractor compliance in all aspects of EHS Procedures, Inspections, and housekeeping.

Attend Contractor Safety Meetings and monthly Contractor EHS inspections.

Manage general construction activities associated with a variety of projects.

Investigate problems regarding contractor job performance, safety and maintenance methods; recommend methods of improvement.

Reports daily work status and progress to the Project Manager and assists in filling resource needs by adjusting personnel when required

Communicate with production and maintenance in planning and execution of required repairs.

Monitor the activities of contractors to maximize their time utilization and effectiveness, continuous improvement.

Promotes and practices operational excellence, good safety and housekeeping.

Accountable for the success of the scheduled work progression and for the productivity and craftsmanship of the teams executing work.

Reviews job in field to validate that all requirements on job package are completed.

Works with operations to ensure that daily permit process is followed to minimize delays. Identifies and communicates permit requirement timing and expectations to operations.

Ideal Background

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.  Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Licensing: No licensing is required for this position.  

Experience: This position requires a minimum 10 years of work experience in an industrial construction role that reflects progressive responsibility and knowledge; process or chemical plant experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.

A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.

Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.

Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.

Ability to handle stress with poise.

Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.

Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members.

Ability to set priorities.

Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Good presentation skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.

Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
