Highlights of the job

 

We are hiring a full-time Construction Inspector position working out of our San Tan District.

 

As a Construction Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of capital and developer-funded engineering projects. Reporting to EPCOR’s project managers, you will be the primary on-site contact for construction contractors, ensuring compliance with contract documents and industry safety standards. Your strategic oversight will contribute significantly to the success of our construction initiatives.

 

What you’d be responsible for:

 

Conduct on-site inspections of water and wastewater construction projects, including pipelines, plants, and other facilities, ensuring conformance to approved plans and specifications.Enforce compliance with permits and approvals, coordinating with permitting agencies for necessary inspections and certifications.Act as the liaison between construction contractors, EPCOR's Utility Operations, and project managers, providing direction and resolving engineering questions as needed.Prepare project documentation in accordance with company standards and review construction contractor progress payments and record drawings.Conduct pre-construction meetings for developer-funded projects and monitor contractor performance in alignment with EPCOR and OSHA safety practices.Evaluate contract change order requests and material submittals, providing recommendations to project managers.Maintain comprehensive logs and records reflecting construction progress and procedures.Perform inspections including leak and deflection testing of sewer mains, pressure testing of water mains, and witnessing disinfection processes.Schedule necessary inspections and testing with contractors and developers, ensuring adherence to project timelines and safety protocols.

 

What’s required to be successful:

 

High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 5 years as an inspector or at a foreman level on major construction projects.Strong coordinating and organizing skills; ability to read engineering plans and specifications; effective verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and persuasion; keen attention to detail.Familiarity with engineering specifications, surveying principles, construction methods, MAG Standards, Pinal County Subdivision and Infrastructure Design Manual, and safety regulations.Certifications & Licenses: Valid Class D Arizona driver’s license with a good driving record.80% fieldwork; 20% office work with minimal travel required for short-duration trips to other EPCOR service areas.Ability to lift 50+ pounds and walk for several hours a day.
