Job Description:
The Construction Inspector is responsible for ensuring that the general contractor’s work adheres to the project’s plans and specifications. The inspector will perform daily inspections, submit comprehensive reports detailing work completed, document issues, and evaluate the quality and compliance of asphalt, concrete, soil materials, and workmanship. Additional responsibilities include conducting field inspections, testing, audits, and reviewing project documents and standards. The inspector will maintain electronic inspection records and reports, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Responsibilities:
Conduct field inspections and tests of asphalt, concrete, and soil materials, equipment, and workmanship in accordance with the project quality plan and specifications.Verify that materials and workmanship meet project requirements and standards.Identify and report any non-conformities, defects, or deviations from specifications.Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues.Review and approve asphalt material certificates, test reports, and quality documents.Coordinate with the project manager, project administrator, construction manager, and QAQC Manager/Supervisor on quality issues.Maintain and update inspection records, reports, and checklists using construction management software on a tablet/mobile device.Ensure compliance with project safety, health, and environmental policies.Perform other related duties as assigned by the project manager or engineer.Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience or equivalent education as a Construction Inspector in asphalt, concrete, soil, or related construction fields.Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and workmanship standards; knowledge of electrical systems is a plus.Proficiency with computers, tablets, and mobile devices.Ability to conduct on-site inspections while maintaining safety standards, including the capability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and walk for extended periods.Comfortable with prolonged exposure to outdoor weather conditions.Skill in using various instruments and equipment for field inspections and tests.Ability to read and interpret project documents, drawings, and specifications.Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Effective and professional communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Flexibility to work various shifts, including day, swing, and graveyard.Ability to pass a criminal history background check by the State of Hawaii for airport AOA/Sterile Area access.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
