Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking Construction Inspectors to join our Grand Rapids, MI team to work on various MDOT and local agency projects!
Colliers Engineering & Design’s professional engineers and technicians successfully oversee project construction from pre-construction through finalization with an outstanding track record for cost and schedule containment. Our ACI, SAT, and NICET certified construction professionals have extensive on-the-job experience in supervision, observation, safety oversight and inspection with ongoing training that ensures required daily schedules are adhered to and all materials are procured and constructed according to plans and specifications. We work with our clients to achieve the optimum value, schedule, and project quality for heavy highway, single and multi-span bridges, intersection and traffic signal improvements, marine improvements, water/wastewater transmission, building and vertical project management, park and recreation construction, and condition assessment and asset inventory.
Our construction professionals understand the impact construction projects have on the surrounding communities and foster public relations and communications with the local business owners, residents, and elected officials in the surrounding communities.
Responsibilities
+ Read and understand plans and specifications to determine information for inspection work items during and after construction.
+ Monitor and inspect construction projects, including quality assurance.
+ Ensure contractors follow the project plans and specifications in accordance with applicable construction procedures, methods, and codes.
+ Track workers and equipment on project.
+ Review testing reports (soils, steel, concrete, masonry, etc.).
+ Document the construction progress with site reports, photos, etc.
+ Monitor construction schedule (Critical Path Method) to ensure project is on schedule.
+ Facilitate communications between owners, contractors, and designers on a project.
+ Obtain and maintain the required certifications for each project as needed (i.e., Traffic Control, Material Testing, Paint or Weld Inspection) as well as complete client specific safety courses.
Qualifications
+ High School diploma/GED is required; Associate degree in engineering technology or related field is desired.
+ Valid driver’s license is required.
+ 1+ years of related construction inspection experience is preferred.
+ MDOT Certifications and knowledge of MDOT specifications is a plus.
+ Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
