About being our Inspector \n
Psomas' Bay Area Regional Construction Management (CM) Team specializes in managing the construction of heavy civil, public works infrastructure projects - primarily upgrades and expansions to wastewater\/water treatment plants and recycled water facilities, pipelines, and pump stations. As our Inspector, you observe and document the daily construction to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes while adhering to safety practices; understanding client goals; establishing and maintaining effective client relationships; and helping develop others on the team. You may observe and inspect a combination of civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural elements. It is a full-time role with occasional night and weekend work. Our Inspectors work in the field on project sites; therefore, candidates must reside locally and\/or be able to make the daily commute.\n

Responsibility Highlights for our Inspector\n\nPrepare and maintain daily reports, including taking photos and taking measurements, calculations, computation of quantities, and review the contractor's schedule progress\nCoordinate activities with clients\/owners, consultants, contractors, designers, and regulatory agencies and support labor compliance efforts\nObserve and document hydrostatic pressure testing, megger testing, equipment functionality testing and programming and\/or input\/output (IO) testing\nCoordinate field special inspections for material sampling and testing and coordinate with the contractor for planning and scheduling required inspections\nInform team of possible changed conditions and track\/oversee force account work\nReview and provide input on potential change order issues, track and record disputed work, and\/or change order work\nReview contractor stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) and report per local jurisdiction requirements\nAssist with monthly pay estimates, measure and record pay quantities\n\n

Minimum Qualifications to be our Inspector\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of experience inspecting heavy civil projects for public agencies, municipalities, and\/or a background that includes general civil infrastructure, public works, and\/or underground construction\nProficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications\nExcellent communication skills, and fluency with Microsoft programs and construction management software\nAbility to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision and manage deadlines\nAbility to work on an active construction site, including walking over uneven terrain, climbing ladders, crawling, stooping and entering confined spaces, being outdoors in inclement weather, wearing proper safety equipment, and practicing industry safety protocols\n\n

Preferred Qualifications for our Inspector\n\nAssociates Degree, Construction\/Project Management certifications, and\/or relevant International Code Council (ICC) certifications\n\n
