Construction Lab Technician

In your role as a Part-TimeConstruction Lab Technician, you will be responsible for providing assistance with various construction materials testing in the laboratory and collection of relevant test data on future or existing projects. With projects ranging from complex roadway construction to single-family residential communities, you will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to take your skills to the next level.
We seek hardworking and motivated candidates with work experience in construction, civil engineering, lab testing or related areas. We will provide on-the-job training.
Job Responsibilities:Perform routine laboratory tests on soil including compaction testing (proctors), gradations, and Atterberg limit testingTest concrete cylinders, grout prisms, and mortar specimens for strength parametersDocument accurate and detailed lab activity and report the findings to other technicians and supervisorsCommunicate verbally and electronically with various lab/field personnel and colleaguesFollow all company safety procedures and policiesOther tasks as assignedQualifications & Skills:High School diploma or equivalentPreferred: AAS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or relevant field of studyPreferred: prior experience as field/engineering technician, construction materials testing or related experiencePreferred: Active ACI, ICC and/or NCDOT/SCDOT certifications and/or willingness to obtain industry certificationsRequired: Monday-Friday daytime availabilityWill work with school schedules but must be able work various hours between 8am-5pm, preferably at least 25 hours per week Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday during the day Regularly exposed to warehouse conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environmentsLab work on construction materials involving long-term standing, sitting and repetitive motionsAbility to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)Ability to regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs. (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs. (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs. (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples)
