Role Description:
Arcadis is seeking a Construction Manager - Building to join our team for a significant transportation project in Virginia Beach. In this role, you will oversee the construction of buildings, ensuring activities are executed per design specifications, VDOT standards, and contractual requirements.
Role Accountabilities:
Serve as the main point of contact for building-related construction activities, ensuring effective communication with VDOT representatives, designers, and other stakeholders. Ensure quality control by reviewing material testing, inspection reports, and construction records to confirm compliance with contract requirements. Identify and resolve on-site issues proactively, such as design conflicts, material deficiencies, or unforeseen conditions. Develop construction schedules for building components, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines. Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, design consultants, and VDOT representatives to ensure seamless execution of building construction activities. Manage contractor performance, including review and approval of submittals, work orders, sublet requests, and force accounts.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum of 15 years of experience in managing building construction projects, preferably within the transportation or infrastructure sector. Experience working on VDOT or similar state transportation projects is highly desirable.Key Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, construction methods, materials, and quality control practices. Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, or similar tools). Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications:

These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
