Pay Range: $130000 - $200000 / year

 

Position Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Construction Manager is accountable for the operational and financial performance of projects/contracts and provides representation and participation in customer and other project meetings. Oversees and coordinates all operational activities during the bidding, development, planning, execution, and close-out phases of construction projects. Manages and supports project teams with the aim of achieving operational excellence, quality, and financial performance. Provide project support from an operational, financial and resource standpoint.


Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
•    Provides leadership and oversight to all construction efforts to ensure that all projects are executed in accordance with the design, budget, and schedule.
•    Develops and implements operating plans, schedules, reports, control measures, etc.
•    Review work locations. 
•    Ensure work can proceed as scheduled.
•    Review material availability.
•    Review resources and equipment logistics.
•    Identify and provide three-month outlook of resources and equipment of project documents. 
•    Review site requirements against work plan.
•    Identify any field level conflicts or additional resources.  
•    Review subcontractor requirements.
•    Ensure subcontractor have up to date requirements, design documents, SSWP’s etc.
•    Ensure subcontractors have held kick off meeting.
•    Oversee compliance of all field personal to health and safety policies.
•    Performs other duties as assigned. 


Required Skills and Qualifications 
•    Through understanding and experience with railroad electrical systems and signaling.  
•    Undergraduate degree in related field of study such as Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar is desired, but not required.
•    A minimum of five (5) years of which have been an installation Manager on complex commuter rail networks
•    Experience within Heavy Civil construction design build environments with a contracting organization is an asset
•    Experience in supporting construction activities, on-site experience required
•    Thorough knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, and methods
•    Ability to effectively train, manage and lead junior staff
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
•    Strong problem-solving skills
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to clearly and effectively present data
•    Proficiency utilizing common business and construction applications such as Microsoft Office products, Hard Dollar, Explorer, or JD Edwards software.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
•    This is full-time office position
•    Occasional weekend or night work may be required
•    Occasional exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions may be required
•    Majority of the field work is on and around live track (trains)
•    Work may be in urban, rural, or isolated areas. Accommodations and transportation will be provided, if required.
