Construction Manager

Scope of Responsibility:  The Construction Manager is accountable for on-site activities related to quality, schedule, safety and cost on assigned projects; supervises internal crews and/or subcontractors and manages project expectations while having the ability to direct/perform hands on activities.  Consistent & regular travel to crews & sites is expected. The position provides strong leadership and direct supervision to project teams. The CM is relied upon heavily to demonstrate dedication to safety and quality control within our projects. 

Essential Duties:

Manages and ensures proper implementation and compliance with Company policies and procedures. Completes general administrative work in a timely and accurately including daily reports, safety reports, purchase order requests, change order requests, and invoice requests, customer status and closeout documentation. Ensures all employees receive & understand required applicable training. Communicates oral and written information accurately, concisely, and in a form appropriate to the target audience. Ensures materials and subcontractor installation are per SOW/prints/specifications, industry standards and performed in workmanship like manner. Consistently strives to create, develop and implement additional procedures, systems, programs, and processes aimed at continuous improvement, quality, and customer enhancement. Ensures documents are updated to reflect specifications and drawing revisions (redlines) Manages final punchout or other closeout documentation. Effectively manages employees and subcontractors to ensure efficient and effective workforce utilization. Develops plans that are appropriate, comprehensive and effective in the scheduling of crews and subcontractors for the successful completion of work. Provides employees and subcontractors with required documentation to complete jobs and tasks effectively including, but not limited to – work orders, scope of work, construction drawings, bill of materials, customer timelines; customer required status and closeout documentation requirements. Manages activities for each phase of the project; ensures project progresses in proper sequence and on schedule. Involved with project kickoff meetings. Ensure internal employee and subcontractor compliance, takes actions as necessary to ensure safety, initiating progressive discipline when not in compliance. Actively manages job costs to meet or exceed budget. Understands and analyzes all daily, weekly and monthly financial, status, labor and other job-related reports to effectively control costs and maximize profitability. Assists in vendor evaluation and selection. Communicates scope and cost changes (Client and subcontractor) to Project Managers, Market Managers and/or Market Directors. Reviews Project Cost Report and assist management team in making sure budgets are maintained. Ensures the needs of the customer are being meet and communicates issues to Project Managers, Market Managers and/or Market Directors. Maintains courteous and timely communication with owner and/or owner representatives.Assist other managers with company projects from beginning to end, ensuring all projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints that you establish and approve for each of your assigned jobs.Take responsibility for establishing project objectives, procedures, SOW, performance standards, timelines, budgets, material requirements, equipment needs, etc., and ensure all projects adhere to the objectives.  Develop and follow through on project plan, especially timelines and budget.Adhere to and maintain, as an average, acceptable levels of margin on all projects managed, through effective use of crew hours, creating efficiencies for crews, cost control, etc.Communicate as necessary with a range of individuals from employees, managers, subcontractors, and suppliers, etc.Maintain and complete all assigned project documents, in accordance with the Sabre established guidelines.Support other managers new establishment of working relationships with customers that are awarding work to Sabre.  Coordination, management, and development of business within the assigned geographic area.Reviewing and completing project closeout procedures, internal and external, with field crews and project management.Adhere to all Sabre procedures and policies for bidding, tracking, invoicing, and follow-up on the Sabre Project Management software.Delegate work, as necessary, to the assigned Project Assistant in order to efficiently complete the tasks associated with project bid, active work, and closeout.Participation in weekly crew/project development conference call to convey scheduling and material needs for the upcoming week's work.Daily communications with customers and SABRE Management Team via phone or email to ensure complete knowledge and understanding of customers' current and upcoming projects.Promote proper business casual dress attire to portray a positive and professional image to the customer and Sabre co-workers.Travel with overnight stays to visit SABRE active job sites and customers on regular basis.Accountable for HR forms/correspondence for field employees without email access. Manages employees in UKG timekeeping system.Manages Annual Review process for salaried and hourly employees.Assist Sabre with other projects as assigned.Regular and on-time attendanceWork in your shift as scheduledGetting along with coworkers

Sabre Issued Equipment:

Credit card, camera, laptop if required.Company vehicle for business use and limited personal use if required.Support Materials and equipment necessary to perform duties.

Position Requirements: 

5+ years of hands-on general construction experience is required.3+ years of management of supervisory experience is required.General knowledge of project management principles and procedures, as they apply to Sabre and the telecommunications industry.Demonstrated ability to manage complex construction related projects.Proven experience managing several projects and priorities totaling a minimum of $1 million annual revenue.Can work in a collaborative, team-based environment.Ability to set goals and expectations and hold others accountable, while being able to also encourage and mentor others; demonstrates skills in coordination of field personnel and resources.Professional presentation in speech and appearance.Ability to communicate information through speech and in writing to be easily understood by all personnel.Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning.Leadership training and development.Advanced computer and Microsoft Office software skillsAbility to stay abreast of Sabre, industry, and customer standards and trends.This position requires a substantial amount of time in the field.Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a motor vehicle report to be an insured company driver.Ability to pass pre-employment requirements, DOT physical and random drug and alcohol testing.
