**Job Description**
**AECOM** is seeking a **Construction Manager** to be based in San Diego, CA.
**Job Summary / Responsibilities:**
The Construction Manager will serve as the project's second in command in the field, overseeing the construction management staff on rail-related projects. This role is critical in ensuring project success and is expected to transition into the Resident Engineer position within 2 years. Key responsibilities include:
+ Oversee and manage field staff, serving as the lead inspector and providing support to office staff.
+ Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure project goals are met.
+ Develop and implement project schedules, ensuring timely completion of construction activities.
+ Monitor project budgets and control costs, identifying and mitigating potential overruns.
+ Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and contract specifications.
+ Review and approve construction submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
+ Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress and identify potential issues.
+ Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and clients.
+ Mentor and develop junior staff members to build a strong, capable team.
+ Collaborate with design teams to resolve field issues and implement design changes as needed.
+ Manage project documentation, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are maintained.
+ Participate in project planning and risk assessment activities.
+ Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in construction management.
This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ BA/BS + 8 years or more of relatable or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Ability to obtain California PE License within one year.
+ Experience as office engineer and/or lead inspector on public works transportation projects with construction value $20M+.
+ Experience working within Caltrans or railroad ROW.
+ Excellent Communication Skills.
+ Strong understanding of industry standard processes for submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and pay applications.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ California PE License.
+ Highway widening experience, Structures experience, Tolling Experience, and/or Railroad experience.
+ Technical Writing skills.
+ Experience writing and processing change orders.
**Additional Information**
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $126,505.00 - $234,034.00.
