The successful candidate will be a key part of the execution team and will be responsible for project managing new planning, design and construction of AMXL Logistic centers. This will include the extension of existing facilities and any new sites. The Construction Manager will play an integral role in the development and implementation of the North American facility network infrastructure. This role will analyze and evaluate different facility scenarios and build-out designs. In addition, this candidate has to support the standardization of the technical and facility related processes and systems.
This opportunity combines construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management. It requires a person who can show proven ability in the planning and design, and project management / control of new and the enhancement of existing facility buildings.
The role will be based in around the country and will include up to 70% travel to various North America (USA) locations.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for overseeing construction engineering, planning, and design for delivery stations and other new or expansion projects
· Responsible for project support on new fulfillment network buildings and additional capacity requirements within existing buildings in North America
· Undertake construction engineering design on new and remodel projects
· Prepare reports, specifications, technical analysis to fully define the design requirements, equipment and services required
· Provide technical direction within engineering design / AutoCAD, building design, layouts, build details, schedules and materials
· Survey facilities, develop and document a procedures to audit the facility, provide evaluations and analysis, and recommend solutions to facility infrastructure, safety and security problems involving facilities and people
· Provide overall site management, coordination, planning, specification of business proposals and coordination of subcontractors
· Facilitate and team with others on due diligence evaluation of new opportunities
· Ensure that contracted resources deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, addressing and ensuring the correction of under-performance issues
· Audit contractors to check that the skills and competences of contract labor are appropriate to need and they are fit to undertake the work on which they will be deployed
· Inform contractors of projected changes in resource or work demand so that they can take appropriate action
· Establish and operate the information systems necessary for effective scheduling and recording of contract work
· Support contractors’ work and help them to achieve higher performance levels
Key job responsibilities
• Supervise the implementation and management of Amazon’s safety programs and standards with the entire internal and external project team
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ensure that the skills and competencies of contract labor are appropriate to need and fit to undertake the work
• Operate independently in the assigned role and region; interacting with leadership and stakeholders to resolve issues
• Comprehensive budget and schedule tracking and cashflow forecasting.
• Identify and solve for factors that may impede a successful project hand-over to Amazon stakeholders while striving for frugality and accomplishing more with less
• Interface and coordinate with the authorities that have jurisdiction (AHJ) on projects to maintain regulatory compliance and seamless job execution
• Review construction documents (blueprints)
• Advise on the impact of changes in schedule, costs, and permitting.
• Maintain internal and external stakeholders up-to-date on pertinent information through comprehensive and timely written and oral communication.
A day in the life
Act everyday as an owner to ensure the safe, on-time and in-budget execution of Amazon construction projects. Daily tasks may include:
• Site management: coordination with contractors on changes and project status
• Ensure contractors are meeting contractual obligations
• Seek sustainable, environmentally-friendly solutions throughout the construction process while implementing Amazon’s sustainability practices
• Utilize Amazon information systems to record and update schedule, and budget
• Negotiate contract terms with vendors while driving partners to meet or exceed agreed-to schedules and budgets
• Participate in weekly Architect, Owner, and Contractor meetings and provide input on root causes and corrective actions

Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience
- Experience in project management, real estate development, architecture/design
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or comparable field
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business or Construction Management
- Ability to effectively communicate Amazon requirements to various audiences (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, vendors, etc.)
