Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a highly experienced Tunnelling Construction Manager to lead our team in the execution of a significant rail tunnel project in the New York / New Jersey area. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and influence the successful delivery of a transformative rail tunnel project. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in managing complex tunnel construction and linear infrastructure projects, particularly in challenging environmental conditions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in overseeing all aspects of heavy civil engineering projects with a focus on tunnels, structures, and underground utilities.
Role accountabilities:
Lead and manage all construction activities related to the rail tunnel project from initiation to completion. Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction activities in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices, particularly in sensitive environmental conditions and on contaminated properties. Manage and coordinate subcontractors and vendors, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliverables. Monitor project progress, budget, and schedule, and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve project goals. Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure work meets high-quality standards and safety protocols. Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project delivery. Prepare regular progress reports, financial reports, and other project documentation for management and stakeholders. Implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential project risks and delays. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting safety, quality, and teamwork among project teams.Qualifications & Experience:
15+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on tunnel construction, structures, and linear infrastructure projects. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Proven experience managing projects in sensitive environmental conditions and on contaminated properties. In-depth knowledge of tunneling methods, underground utilities, and construction techniques. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate project teams. Proficiency in project management software and tools for scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Previous experience specifically in rail tunnel projects or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.Why Arcadis?

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $225,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
