Summary You will serve as a CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL ASSISTANT in the Maintenance and Engineering Program of NAVFAC Southwest Responsibilities You will initiate material requisitions and material requirement forms. You will procure, pick up and deliver materials to support work requirements. You will ensure that material deliveries are on schedule to their assigned installations. You will research catalogs to locate materials or equipment. You will assist and facilitate required actions resulting from schedule changes that impact material and equipment availability. You will advise production Controllers, Project Managers and Job Supervisor of any material or informal contract support problems that will delay completion of scheduled tasks. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Assisting others to provide material, equipment, and contract support; 2) Initiating material requisitions and material requirement forms; 3) ordering and procuring materials to support work requirements; 3) Monitoring material requirements pertaining to compatibility and correct application to determine cost. Physical Effort Walking, bending or stooping may be involved in activities such as, inspection of material, equipment and contractor site visits and providing material support. Incumbent lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 lbs. Occasionally may lift items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance. Work Environment Works both indoors and outdoors in an office environment and drives a government vehicle, providing material, tools and equipment support to production personnel working in the field, thereby coming in contact with hazards common to construction and maintenance operations, such as dust, fumes, noise, injury from improper lifting, etc. PCS expenses are not authorized A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
