Construction Project Engineer

Stampede Ventures, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is looking for a Project Engineer to join their new and growing team in Norfolk-Virgina Beach. The role involves project support, quality control, submittal tracking, daily reporting, customer communication, and managing multiple sites. The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with project submittals, coordinate construction activities, and perform additional support tasks as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Plans and organizes projects and sub-projects with limited complexity under the direct supervision of the Project Manager or Director.
- Monitors and drives daily progress of project work packages and activities to meet the project schedule, supporting the Project Manager.
- Provides detailed updates to Project Managers, team members, and stakeholders.
- Organizes and maintains project documentation, artifacts, trackers, and reports.
- Manages and oversees Definable Features of Work -Submittal packages, supporting the Superintendent/PM.
- Supports maintenance and continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures.
- Actively participates in Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
- Adheres to all required ISO procedures and complies with work training requirements.
- Must be able to travel infrequently.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Supports overall project quality and reviews trade contractors methods in accordance with project contract documents alongside the Project Superintendent.
- Reviews and analyzes submittal data on product specifications, scopes of work, plans, and engineer reports to ensure the finished product meets client expectations for quality and reliability.
- Assists the project management team with the RFI process, ensuring all RFIs are properly logged, reviewed, and forwarded to the appropriate parties.
- Supports testing programs throughout construction to verify materials and installations meet specifications and assists the QC in monitoring daily construction activities for contract compliance.
- Assists with planning, coordination, and quality control programs to ensure continuous production of projects meets established standards, either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
- Conducts random project site audits at all stages of the production process and inspects materials for specification and contract compliance.
- Effectively interacts with NAVFAC Quality Control personnel.
- Previous Federal construction experience is preferred.
