Job Description
Perform construction oversight and project management for engineering and construction projects, including surveys and inspections of buildings and related systems. Manage various types of building structures such as residential complexes, condominiums, homeowner associations, commercial, educational, and industrial facilities. Assist with coordination of design activities from initial conception through project completion, including preparation of bid documents, contractor evaluations, and oversight. Conduct reserve studies involving field observation and data input into proprietary software. Interact with contractors, owners, and the general public with tact, courtesy, and firmness.
Responsibilities
+ Collect data and gather information or documents.
+ Perform standard computations or analysis.
+ Assist with preparation of drawings and technical documents.
+ Observe construction activities.
+ Perform basic survey and field work.
+ Perform basic design tasks.
+ Assist with invasive inspections, preparation of bid packages, and material testing.
+ Provide work effort in accordance with contractual scope of work.
+ Perform construction and worksite inspections.
+ Manage construction and administration, including conceptual design, preparation of bid documents, contractor evaluation, cost estimating, project scheduling, and contractor supervision.
+ Prepare reports of inspection findings including photographs.
+ Attend and participate in industry marketing events to develop relationships with prospective clients and other business relationships.
+ Store all project-related documents and correspondence within prescribed project folder/server locations.
+ Climb stairs, ladders, walk on low slope and sloped roofs, and walk on paved and grass surfaces at project sites for an entire 8-hour work period to perform necessary physical inspections.
+ Perform other job duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred, or commensurate construction experience. High School graduate at a minimum.
+ Residential and/or commercial building inspection experience preferred.
+ Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well under supervision.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely.
+ Background in construction hands-on experience or field-based internship.
+ Ability to write detailed reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ AS or construction management degree (this role is not suitable for someone seeking an EIT or PE).
+ Comfortable with heights and able to perform physical inspections.
+ NJ driver’s license with access to fleet vehicles or mileage reimbursement.
Work Environment
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with potential Saturday work and trade show/networking events. The role includes a mix of office (2/3) and field work (1/3) involving inspection and assessment. The office environment is small, facilitating easy access to leadership for work discussions. Full benefits, 401k, six holidays, six sick days, and vacation time (one week in the first year, two weeks in the second year) are provided. Employees will have the opportunity to gain broad experience and work on a variety of projects and complex problems in a dynamic setting.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
