The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our team as a member of our growing Energy team in Portland, OR.  As a Construction Project Manager, your main areas of focus will be on energy services projects for large accounts primarily delivered through “energy as a service” and other emerging business models. You’ll be a key member of a new and growing team, so you can expect more autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit. The purpose of this position is for an individual to support projects regionally. Therefore, it’s expected that the individual joining us will be comfortable with some travel during construction, which could mean weekly travel to project sites. 

We’re looking for someone who has demonstrated experience within commercial construction, more specifically in the ESCO space, and is comfortable taking ownership of projects involving complex pieces. We expect this individual to possess strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, is results oriented, consultative, and collaborative. 

Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

Transitioning support through the development phase to construction phase. Lead the pre-con efforts of the construction phase. Lead the development and management of project plans, schedules, and scopes of work. Creating and managing operating budgets. Preparing client monthly billings and complete monthly financial projections. Monitor, control, and report on the financial performance of projects. Analyzing and delivering accurate and timely financial results. Coordination of work with subcontractors and vendors. Coach and mentor project team members. Develop project staffing plans to include subcontractors. Participating in project risk and peer reviews. Looking for and promoting cross-functional operational opportunities. Coordinating implementation handoffs between internal departments Regularly communicating, formally and informally company goals, policies, plans and priorities. Acting as a steward of McKinstry culture; communicating and influencing policies and procedures.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture or Facilities Management or equivalent work experience required. Three to five (3-5) years of leadership over project teams with experience in engineering, construction, facilities services required. Estimating support preferred Pre-Con experience required. Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project required. Working knowledge of scheduling software: Microsoft Project, Primavera and/or Suretrak required. Experience with a General Contractor or Major Mechanical Subcontractor preferred. PE, CFM, CEM, CPM, LEED professional designations are a plus. Knowledge of construction management, commercial building process, financial acumen, and systems. Intermediate knowledge of construction financial programs and software required. Ability to create pro-formas, budgets, revenue forecasting and manage to stated budgets required.

The pay range for this position is $76,320 - $122,760 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
