About the Store Construction Team

You will be part of the Store Development team responsible for designing, building and delivering retail experiences; this includes new construction, remodeling, and repairs and maintenance.

 

Overview of the Project Manager, Store Construction role

You will have the opportunity to manage construction-related activities of William-Sonoma, Inc.'s retail stores reporting to the Director of Retail Construction. This includes new construction, remodeling, and miscellaneous related projects for all WSI brands.

 This role is on-site at our Corporate HQ in SF 4x a week.

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing a portfolio retail store construction projects including new, remodel, and capital improvements through managing an external team Prepares construction estimates, cost summaries, schedules, and reports for Director of Retail Construction Manages landlord negotiation and work letter process, reviews leases and submitted material for adherence to work letter and design timelines and intent Develop and maintain relationships with extensive external team includes construction project managers, vendors, architects, engineers, and general contractors Reviews design and location criteria with the real estate deal maker and design architects Evaluate potential projects for cost, schedule, and feasibility before submission to Real Estate Committee Conducts regular site visits during the survey, demo, buildout, and punch list phases of various jobs managing construction travel budget to plan Builds relationships with internal partners including Real Estate, Brand Management, Store Operations, Store Design, Visual Merchandising, Corporate Accounting, and purchasing Reviews value engineering of projects with the design team, procurement, and general contractors Coordinates with Purchasing Manager on the selection and delivery of owner provided items Requires extensive travel to job sites before, during, and after construction (roughly 20-30% travel)

 

Criteria

BA or BS degree  5+ years of experience in construction (within retail industry greatly preferred!) Experience reviewing and approving technical submittals Qualifying, selecting, and managing general contractors Monitoring and coordinating environmental testing and abatement issues Establishing construction estimates, budgets, and schedules Ability to prioritize multiple requests, multitask and manage time effectively Working knowledge of Prolog or Tango systems for asset management

The expected starting pay range for this position is $100,000-$110,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
