Construction Project Manager
Job Title: Project ManagerJob Description We are seeking project managers to serve as the central hub for our construction projects. You will be the primary point of contact for clients as the construction phase begins, setting the tone for planning, organization, and project structure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success. You must also have a solid understanding of technical construction work and the financial aspects of each project. Responsibilities + Oversee construction schedules and activities. + Act as the main point of contact for clients during construction. + Coordinate efforts across the entire project team, including architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors, and employees. + Troubleshoot problems with the team or individually. + Clearly define the scope of work and deliverables. + Source and purchase materials, and handle all invoices related to managed projects. + Ensure material needs are met for subcontractors and construction. + Support research needed for construction, paperwork, or procedures required by subcontractors or clients. + Initiate and provide direction over contracts and subcontracts. + Manage costs to stay within budgets. + Track and issue change orders as needed for client approval. + Support bookkeeping needs to manage client invoicing. + Conduct regular site visits to oversee progress and offer support to the crew when needed. + Hold bi-weekly meetings with Operations and other departments for status updates on new and current projects. + Provide progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines. + Ensure work complies with all relevant building and safety codes. + Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships. + Conduct project debrief reviews to ensure continuous improvement for future jobs. + Manage warranty items. + Be available in case of emergencies during weekends or after normal work hours. + Work well with a wide range of personalities. + Represent the company, ensuring a positive work environment for the team and a positive experience for the client. + Uphold the company's core values and support its short and long-term goals. Essential Skills + 2+ years of Construction Project Manager experience. + Experience with Custom Residential Construction. + Willingness to travel (current travel includes Indy to Bloomington and surrounding areas). + Experience with Critical Path Items. + Budget tracking (including invoicing, accounting, cost, markup, budget forecasting). + Experience with construction software for project management (currently using CoConstruct, but this may change). + Experience managing projects with over $100k budget. + Client-facing and customer service experience. + Good communication skills, both written and verbal, including phone etiquette. + Ability to navigate or avoid disputes with coworkers, clients, and subcontractors. + Intrinsic motivation to work independently and grow the business. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Understanding of cash flow vs. profitability. + Engineering background or construction management degree. + Experience with profit & loss analysis. Work Environment The role includes both office work and on-site presence. Project managers typically work Monday to Friday, with up to 55 hours per week, and are expected to respond to clients over the weekend. Office work involves handling administrative tasks such as project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with stakeholders, often using project management software and other tools. On-site presence includes overseeing progress, attending scheduled meetings with stakeholders, addressing issues, and ensuring that the work is done according to plans and specifications. Project managers will be on-call for any project-related emergencies. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.66 - $43.27/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
