Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Construction Project Manager III to be based in San Diego, CA.
AECOM is a large public company, highly dedicated to building quality, safety, and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. We’re seeking a construction manager who has similar values and can put their expertise to work on a variety of public works building projects. This person will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and serving as the worksite representative for dealings with general contractors, site administrators / end users, project managers, and DSA inspectors. The construction manager will ensure compliance with construction contract documents and will provide progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis.
Objectives of this role
Manage worksites for new construction as well as remodeling projects, coordinating activities and ensuring that all work is in sync with project goals and objectivesOversee the work of general contractors to ensure compliance with construction contract documentsInterpret contracts and technical information, and communicate project status to clients and the general contractorLiaise with engineers, architects, inspectors, and others working on the projectMonitor project progress and budget, and respond to delays and emergencies Prepare and manage estimates, budgets, and timetablesIdentify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issuesAdhere to legal regulations, building and safety codes, and other requirementsResponsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineers, architects, project managers, site administrators, and others working on the projectSpend most of their time on-site to monitor construction activities and make decisions — including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, punch walks, and closeouts — and attend status and coordination meetingsConduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable and that tools and equipment are in good working conditionRespond efficiently and effectively to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptionsProvides overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies. Provides technical direction and guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors. Position has significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned construction project.Knowledge Of:

BA/BS + 4 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationPreferred Qualifications:
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from college with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or a related field and three years’ experience in construction management involving large-scale projects.Professional Engineer (PE) Registration, California Architectural License, or Professional certification, such as CCM (certified construction manager), or equivalent is desirable.Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportationKnowledge of construction methods and technologies and an ability to interpret technical drawings and contractsKnowledge and experience with DSA is preferredAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyKnowledge of construction worksite safety practicesAdditional InformationSponsorship is not available for this role.
