Job Title: Construction Safety Officer
Job Description
We are looking to add a Safety Officer to our team to backfill a recently vacated position. This role involves providing safety oversight both in the office and in the field. The Safety Officer will be responsible for conducting new hire safety orientations, running safety meetings, and ensuring that proper safety procedures are followed on job sites.
Responsibilities
+ Assist, support, and foster the company's safety culture.
+ Aggressively monitor job site compliance with safety, environmental hazards, and loss prevention policies.
+ Take immediate action to prevent work-related injuries and accidents, including temporarily shutting down work at job sites if necessary.
+ Ensure that proper safety equipment, resources, and materials are present and utilized on job sites.
+ Recommend and implement actions to improve safety conditions and programming.
+ Provide direction, counseling, performance development, and problem-solving support to Safety Coordinators.
+ Conduct job site training and development for team members and subcontractors.
+ Communicate and collaborate with the Safety Manager, business unit construction supervisors, and team members to integrate operations and processes.
+ Support and ensure adherence to all company core values, operating policies, and regulatory compliance practices.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with safety in construction, including OSHA 30 and site safety inspections.
+ Ability to conduct toolbox talks, safety orientations, and hazard analysis.
+ Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and OSHA 500.
+ Proficient in reading, writing, grammar, organizational, and analytical skills.
+ Strong interpersonal, listening, and communicative skills.
+ Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve job site hazards.
+ Proficient in providing direction, counseling, and training to Site Safety Coordinators.
+ Collaborative and able to work as part of a team.
+ Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficient computer and technology skills.
+ Valid driver's license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Safety certification is strongly preferred: CSP, GSP, CHST, or STSC.
+ Degree in a related safety field or construction management.
Work Environment
The Safety Officer will work both in the office and in the field. The role involves working in a training setting as well as conducting field visits. This position offers the opportunity for growth into a leadership capacity and the ability to shape and grow the safety team.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $39.00/hr.
