OVERVIEW Merrick is seeking an On-Site Construction Manager to work on our client site in Baltimore, MD. The On-Site Manager will oversee all activities in the field and will report to the Manager of Construction Services and the Client assigned representative/Assigned onsite designee. The primary objective of this position is the day-to-day management of the on-site construction and safety effort. By establishing and maintaining a relationship with the Client through the competent and professional execution of duties, the Construction Manager will play a key role in business development, working to acquire additional business from the Client. This position is an onsite position located at our client site in Baltimore, MD and is not located in a Merrick office. Typical annual pay range for this position is $84,000.00 - $98,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO Develop a thorough understanding of the project documents and have thorough working knowledge of the prime contract, design drawings, specifications, contractor scopes of work and the project schedule. Participate in the development of the master schedule for the assigned project(s). Conduct pre-mobilization meetings with Contractors. Review Contractor work plans for safety, quality, and schedule compliance. Perform Site Safety Training for contractors under direction of Plant Safety Manager. Monitor the Contractor employees for compliance with the safety and reporting requirements of OSHA and the Owner. Coordinate activities of all Contractors to ensure an efficient and productive use of resources. Plan work activities to ensure design, workforce, materials, tools, equipment, and supervision are available. Proactively manage events to avoid unnecessary change orders. Ensure quality of field installations. Conduct on-site schedule coordination meetings weekly, or as required, to maintain effective communication, coordination, schedule and cost control. Promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious site. Conduct monthly on-site mass safety meetings. Ensure adequate site security. Maintain required project documentation, including but not limited to: OSHA Log, accident/incident reports, first-aid reports, daily reports, as-built drawings, communications, drawing revisions, engineering sketches and directives, etc. Maintain timely and effective communications with the Client Operations Team to ensure proper coordination between the Plant Operations and Construction activities. Maintain timely and effective communications with the Manager of Construction Services and Client representative to prevent project delays, cost overruns or client dissatisfaction. Report weekly on construction status and issues concerning safety, schedule, cost, or client relations. Promote Merrick to the Client representative and to others within the Client’s organization in effort to acquire additional business and provide additional services to the Client. Control project schedule and cost through the efficient use of all construction resources including manpower, materials, tools, and equipment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the construction industry in industrial or manufacturing environments. OHSA 30 hour. Updated TWIC. Knowledge of new/existing manufacturing, substation(s), food, chemical/bioprocessing plant procedures. Knowledge in electrical, structural, mechanical engineering procedures. Experience in large demolition and renovation projects. You are required to have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and must be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier. Exceptional communication (verbal & written), organization, planning, and time management skills. Working knowledge of appropriate codes and standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
