Expected salary range of $89,100 to $108,900, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes a bonus and 401(k) match.
**LOCATION**
This role will support projects across the Mid-Atlantic. For the next 3 years, this role will be on-site at a project in Washington D.C./Bethesda, MD, and be required to maintain an on-site presence at project sites 100% of the work week. Following completion of this project, the Construction Site Safety and Health Officer will support other project sites across the Mid-Atlantic region and be required to travel to perform site audits and other project-site based safety functions, as needed.

**Primary Purpose of Position**
The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the development and review of the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP), activity hazard analyses (AHAs), amendments to the accident prevention plan, on-site safety education, site safety meetings, overall safety and health compliance of the project, and a proactive innovative attitude towards solving difficult site-specific safety issues. The SSHO is responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing the project Accident Prevention Plan. The SSHO shall provide full-time on-site safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, training, reporting and safety enforcement.
**Primary Duties and Accountabilities**
+ Comply with all federal, state, and local safety and health regulations, and EM 385-1-1 as applicable.
+ Create, implement, and maintain a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan per EM 385-1-1. (10%)
+ Develop Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) as required for the project, and coordinate review and understanding with all project affected personnel. (10%)
+ Develop and implement project safety training programs (initial safety orientation and on-going safety and health training). Conduct training and maintain records of training for all project personnel. (10%)
+ Conduct regularly scheduled site safety meetings. (5%)
+ Maintain records of safety meetings, inspections, deficiencies, corrective actions, incidents, and injuries. (5%)
+ Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log of what area were inspected, dates, hazards, deficiencies, corrective actions, and dates corrections were made. (30%)
+ Enforce all safety policies and procedures. Ensure all project personnel (including subcontractors and visitors) comply with all safety and health requirements.(15%)
+ Lead and document investigations of all accidents and near miss events. Complete required reports and submit the reports to the appropriate parties. (5%)
+ Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals used on-site, and their safety data sheets (SDS). Maintain safety reference material applicable to the work being conducted at the site. (5%)
+ Attend all pre-construction conferences, tail-gate meetings, and pre-work meetings, to include preparatory meetings and periodic in-progress meetings. (5%)
+ Strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving and strong human relations skills.
+ Action oriented, able to help others see the importance of following all safety and health procedures and requirements.
+ Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
+ Perform other job duties as required to support the business operations.
**Required Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or closely related discipline and at least 5 years of cumulative safety experience managing or implementing safety and health programs
+ OSHA 30-hour certification required
+ EM 385-1.1 certification required
+ Experience working on federal government projects.
+ Documented continuing education training (CEUs) consisting of 24 hours within the past 5 years
+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations and EM 385-1.1 requirements
+ Professional communication and writing skills are a must. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation; requires excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail
+ Proficient in the use of computers and computer software (Microsoft Office Suite)
+ Able to sit periodically and for extended periods of time, climb ladders/stairs, reach below knees and above shoulders, kneel and crawl to access work areas. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and the ability to reach forward and grasp. Ability to work inside and outside in variable temperature environments. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, fall protection, etc.)
