OVERVIEW A Welder Construction Specialist is a skilled professional responsible for joining metal parts using a variety of welding techniques. They play a crucial role in the construction industry, working on structures such as buildings, bridges, and pipelines. This position requires a deep understanding of welding processes, safety protocols, and construction standards. Welding and Fabrication Responsibilities + Perform welding tasks using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-cored arc welding. + Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the welding requirements. + Read survey plans and transport elevations with the transit theodolite. + Prepare and align metal parts before welding to ensure precise and accurate welds. + Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to specifications and project requirements. + Organize and direct employees during the construction process. Quality Control + Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications. + Identify and repair any defects or imperfections in the welds. + Maintain detailed records of welding activities, including the types of welds performed, materials used, and any issues encountered. Safety and Compliance + Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. + Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, and safety glasses. + Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition. + Comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding welding and construction practices. Education and Experience + High school diploma or equivalent. + Completion of a formal welding training program or apprenticeship. + Several years of experience in welding, preferably in the construction industry. Skills and Abilities + Proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to work with different types of metals. + Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical specifications. + Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work. + Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. + Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
