Job Description
Title: Construction Specialist
Reports To: Construction Manager
Supervises: N/A

Department: Remodel Team
The Construction Specialist supports the remodel and facilities team in overseeing the completion of Border Foods remodel and construction projects in restaurants. The Construction Specialist will support and execute the construction process from project inception to completion. The Construction Specialist will identify and assign scopes of work, order equipment and materials as needed, and provide on-site supervision throughout the project cycle. The construction specialist may self-perform light construction duties as the project demands.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Point person on assigned projects: Identify work scope, source and hire needed trades/vendors, assist in ordering equipment and materials, create project schedule, provide on-site project supervision through completion of project, and close out punch lists.
• Work with city building departments to identify needed inspections, permits, and general compliance items.
• Schedule and coordinate owner vendors to complete needed tasks.
• Coordinate purchase and delivery of owner supplied items.
• Support remodel team on ongoing project portfolio.
+ Administrative: Utilize email communication, Xcel job aids, One drive files for project documentation, and photo management.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Source and implement cost saving initiatives.
• Work with architects and engineers on design as needed.
+ Serve as Border Foods point person on projects where General Contractor is used.
+ Maintain documented files for project records.
+ Consult on annual project schedule, scope of work walks, and vendor utilization.
+ Potential to create or modify blueprints (ie. Bluebeam or CAD)

+ Interpersonal Communication - Can easily establish rapport with and maintain relationships with internal customers, i.e., Restaurant Operations Team, to establish trust; shares technical information with others to train and troubleshoot equipment. Must have a "QSR" mentality: understanding of operation trends and a sense of urgency.
+ Accountability - Displays creative problem resolution and the ability to "think on feet." Perform well in scheduled environment to keep vendors and materials coordination on time and task. Complete projects on time and on budget.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements, & Abilities:
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Has worked with Microsoft Office Products, Excel, etc.
• Prior Experience with facilities management, maintenance, or construction.
• Prior Experience in project coordination, project management, or site supervision is a bonus.
• Experience with Facility Management Software is preferred (ie. Monday.com)
• Familiar with reading and following construction plans.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to be self-driven, able to follow up and give summary reports.
• Ability to travel as much as 40% of the work week. Many projects will require being away from home 5 days in a row for multiple weeks.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this position are sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodation.
